Jamie Farmer, MS, CRC
Jamie Farmer is a Resident in Counseling at Old Towne Counseling Services. She completed her master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in August 2020 and is working towards licensure as a professional counselor. Jamie utilizes an integrative approach to therapy to best meet the unique needs of her clients. Jamie specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with depression, anxiety, work/school-related stress, relationship issues, and adjustment disorders. Jamie enjoys an interactive approach to therapy, including using worksheets, interacting through play, and teaching and modeling healthy coping skills.
Prior to working at Old Towne Counseling Services, Jamie completed her internship at Old Towne and St. Joseph’s Villa working with students with autism spectrum disorder. Jamie also has experience working with adolescents in an inpatient setting. Her experience in diverse settings offers her clinical expertise in working with a wide range of clients. Before beginning her journey through the mental health field, Jamie worked as a third grader teacher. While she enjoyed her time in the classroom, she wanted to take her passion for helping others into the realm of mental health to address some of the needs she saw in her students.
